🏆 2023 'What's Your Angle?' Photography Competition 📸
In its sixth year, the 2023 ‘What’s Your Angle?’ Photography Competition showed no signs of slowing down with many new entrants, a record amount of entries and its biggest opening night to date.
Opening the exhibition alongside the Boyup Brook Visitor Centre’s ‘Walk on the Wildside’ event on Friday, October 6 helped increase numbers at the awards presentation this year, with the Boyup Brook Community Resource Centre teeming with guests.
New judges, George Stewart and Gary Louth, both affiliated with the Bridgetown Camera Club were present on the evening and provided insight into how they chose the winning images. This included methodically applying a score to each image, of which there were 136, before moving onto the next.
George and Gary collectively have over 100years of experience in photography having both worked in the field and been associated with judging and camera clubs for some time. Their system saw eleven different photographers share the nineteen prizes on offer on the night.
The popularity of two out of the five categories in Landscapes and Animals, saw the exhibition boards packed with vibrant images, with a wide selection of places and creatures on show.
The exhibition was also open over the week of October 9-13, and in total saw 172 visitors, many of whom voted in the People’s Choice Award.
The winner of this was Natacha Issler, a Greenbushes photographer whose mother had insisted she enter the rainbow and lightning image titled ‘The Beauty and the Beast’. Natacha was the most awarded photographer this year.
The Boyup Brook CRC would like a final opportunity of thanking the 2023 sponsors for their continued support of the photography competition: Lions Club of Boyup Brook, Shire of Boyup Brook, Boyup Brook Co-op, Hampton Partners, CM Dalton Transport and Blackwood Plant Hire.
